I have always been a fan of Notational Velocity and its derivatives, especially Terminal Velocity but never found an Android version of it. So I created one. It also takes its tagging logic inspiration from todo.txt which I use a lot across my projects to keep things organized.
Muzzle Velocity collapses search and creation into a single search bar: type to filter notes instantly, or hit Enter on anything new to create it on the spot. Notes are plain Markdown files stored in a directory of your choice, organized into subfolders if you want them.
The editor supports syntax-highlighted view, full edit, and rendered preview modes with LaTeX support. Todo.txt style tags (#tags, +projects, @contexts) are detected automatically from note content and are fully searchable. Swipe gestures handle favorites and trash.
And for extra nerdiness a small set of colon suffixed commands lets you toggle settings without touching the menu. No accounts, no cloud, just fast, frictionless notes. Bring your own sync solution.
